Acoustic Panel — 1200 × 600 × 25mm

Some rooms just don't sound right. Voices bounce, video calls come back thin and hollow, and the TV needs two more notches of volume than it should. That's a reflection problem, and it's fixable.

This 1200 x 600 x 25mm panel pairs a resin-bonded fibreglass core with a fabric-wrapped face — the core does the acoustic work, the fabric makes it something you're happy to look at. Each panel covers 0.72m² of wall or ceiling and absorbs sound energy instead of letting it ricochet around the room.

The edges are resin-hardened and bevelled, which matters more than it sounds: soft-edged panels go furry and lose their line within a year or two. These hold a crisp shadow gap whether you're running a single feature panel or a full grid, and they survive being knocked in a corridor or handled during a fitout.

Available in black or white.

NRC 0.95 — what that actually means

Every surface in a room either absorbs sound or reflects it back at you. NRC — Noise Reduction Coefficient — is the single-number score for how much a surface absorbs, on a scale from 0.00 to 1.00.

Plasterboard sits at about 0.05. Glass and polished concrete are close to zero: almost everything comes straight back. A heavy curtain gets you to around 0.40.

This panel measured 0.95.

In plain terms, across the frequencies that carry speech and everyday room noise, roughly 90–95% of the sound energy reaching the panel is absorbed rather than reflected back into the space. That's the difference between a room that rings and a room that sounds settled.

Tested to ISO 354:2003 in a reverberation room by an independent CNAS-accredited laboratory, report LCA-JC-2020-02337. The full frequency chart is in the product images, and a copy of the report is available on request.

Two things worth knowing before you buy:

Absorption is not soundproofing. These panels fix how a room sounds from the inside — the echo and the ring. They are not a sound barrier and won't stop noise coming through a wall from the neighbours.

Mounting affects the result. The tested figure was measured with an air cavity behind the panel. Fixed flat against a wall, absorption in the low-frequency range drops off — performance through the speech range, where most room problems actually live, stays strong. If deep bass is your issue, talk to us before ordering.

Two ways to put it up

Every panel ships with a set of four impaling clips. The clip is a small metal plate with spikes on one face: the plate goes on the wall, spikes pointing out, and the panel presses straight onto them and grips. No brackets visible, no frame, nothing to line up.

Renter-friendly — no holes

Mount the clips with removable adhesive mounting strips (3M Command strips or equivalent) instead of screws.

  1. Hold the panel where you want it and mark the four corners. The clips sit roughly 100mm in from each corner of the panel.
  2. Clean each clip position with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Household spray cleaners leave a residue that stops the adhesive bonding — this is the single most common reason strips fail.
  3. Stick a strip to the back of each clip plate, peel the liner, press the clip to the wall and hold firm pressure for 30 seconds.
  4. Leave it an hour before loading, as the strip manufacturer specifies.
  5. Press the panel onto the spikes with a flat palm, even pressure across all four clips.

To remove, lift the panel off the spikes first, then pull each strip tab slowly straight down the wall.

A few cautions: the panel weighs 2kg, so pick strips with a combined rating comfortably above that across the four clips — the large picture-hanging size is the usual choice. Don't use adhesive on freshly painted walls — give the paint four weeks to cure or it will lift. And don't use adhesive on ceilings.

Permanent — screws

  1. Mark the four clip positions as above.
  2. Into a timber stud or batten, screw the clip straight on. Into plasterboard, use a plasterboard anchor rated for the load.
  3. For ceilings, fix into joists or battens. Adhesive strips are not suitable overhead.
  4. Press the panel onto the spikes.

For suspended and floating installations, upgrade to the hanging kit.

Adhesive strips, screws and anchors are not supplied — the clip set is.

Where it earns its keep

  • Home offices and recording spaces where call and audio quality matter
  • Open-plan living areas with hard floors, glass and high ceilings
  • Meeting rooms, consulting suites and reception areas
  • Cafés, gyms and studios where noise drives people out early
  • Rentals and shared spaces — mounted on adhesive strips, the whole thing comes off cleanly

Buy one, or have us do the whole room

Order a single panel to check the colour against your wall and hear the difference before committing.

Or, across Melbourne metro, send through a photo and a description of the room and we will assess it, calculate the coverage it actually needs, and supply and install the complete treatment — because where the panels go matters as much as how many you buy.
