A 18-seat panini café in North Melbourne. Tiled floor, exposed ceiling, full height, all hard surfaces, nothing to absorb sound. Conversation carried across the whole room and got louder as the room filled.
We installed 18 white panels across the ceiling. 1200×600×25mm, fabric-wrapped fibreglass core, mounted flat to the ceiling to keep them out of the way in a small footprint. White was chosen to sit back against the existing ceiling rather than draw attention.
The room settled down noticeably — easier to hold a conversation across a table, and staff aren't raising their voices to take orders.
